HAGGIS HORNS

Mark Ronson called them ‘the best horn-section in the world’ after they backed him - and here they were blowing their own trumpets in Grimsby.

Bringing a modern edge to a retro sound, this Scottish 8-piece, who have also worked with Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen, released their debut album Hot Damn (First Word Records) in 2007.

CONJUNTO SALSONITO

Based in the north of England, Salsonito have chosen to go back to the classics for their sound and style, playing the trombone style of bands such as Eddie Palmieri's La Perfecta, Mon Rivera, Willie Colon and Joe Bataan. Their salsa is 1960s and 1970s New York Puerto Rican but with a large dose of Cuban son mixed into it. They augment their salsa, son and guaguancos with mambo, latin jazz, cha cha cha and bugalu!

SARAVAH SOUL

The sound of Afro-Brazilian funk. An eight-piece with an energetic stage presence, fronted by fiery break dancer Otto Nascarella – the perfect band to launch the Hot Sauce series. Another Tru Thoughts signing, the band was created to showcase a highly addictive style of late 60’s Brazilian soul-funk and samba with an exciting and original live twist.
